Paul Richardson has been helping people tell their stories for over 30 years. An award-winning editor and photographer, he collaborates with other StoryWorkz team members to produce stories in the medium most ideal for each client's needs.
With training in journalism, and graduate degrees in political science and Russian Area Studies (in 2018 he was awarded the REEI Distinguished Alumnus Award by Indiana University's Russian and East European Institute), Richardson founded his Vermont-based company in 1990. StoryWorkz has made some key pivots over its 35-year history, yet its core activity has always been helping people tell better stories.
Richardson is an award-winning photographer whose work has been published in numerous local, regional, national, and international media outlets and publications. He has hundreds of corporate and nonprofit clients throughout Vermont and the US.
His video work has been featured on local and national news networks, and in 2017-18, he co-produced a feature documentary on Russian centenarians born in 1917, Resilience. The project also spawned companion books in Russian and English.
Over the past decade, Richardson and the StoryWorkz team have produced over 100 films for dozens of clients, garnering YouTube views in the millions.
Editing skills are core to crafting memorable stories. StoryWorkz began as a book publisher (winning two national awards for editing), then transitioned into putting its editorial experience to work for corporate and nonprofit clients, overseeing the production of everything from annual reports to trade publications, from blogs and newsletters to advertising and social media copy.
Richardson has himself authored several books, including Driving Down Russia's Spine, The Spine of Russia, Resilience: Life Stories of Russian Centenarians Born in the Year of Revolution, and Running is Flying.
